What is Internal Medicine?

Internal Medicine physicians, sometimes known as Internists, are experts in complexity. We specialize in adult medicine, and are specially trained to solve diagnostic problems, manage acute and long-term illnesses, and help patients with multiple, complex chronic conditions. We provide comprehensive care in partnership with our patients and often with subspecialists.

Internal Medicine physicians see the big picture. Our training gives them a unique perspective of how a presenting complaint interrelates with our patient’s other medical conditions. We carefully review all the available data, order appropriate tests, and consults, and with our patient identify solutions for optimal health outcomes.

While experts in complicated medical situations, we prioritize health maintenance and disease prevention. We will work with our patients to support lifestyle changes. We will recommend best practices to help our patients stay healthy.

Your Internal Medicine Physician is your first contact for your urgent needs as well as for monitoring and treating chronic conditions and for your yearly health exams.

Our Services

Primary Care

Primary care is your home base. Our primary care practice serves as your first point of contact into the healthcare system. It is where you go for your urgent and long-term health care needs. We will provide acute chronic and preventative care in the outpatient setting. We will review the recommendations of your subspecialists and be the “team leader” with you in your health care.

Urgent Care

We leave appointments open each day for your urgent needs. If we can optimally manage your concern in the office, we want to. Call us first for your urgent needs. If you have an emergency, go to the emergency room first.

Routine Checkups

We want to see every patient at least once a year. This allows you and your physician to review your medical conditions and health care concerns. We will look at what changes we can make together to optimize your health. We will review any testing recommended for preventative medical care. We will discuss what health practices might optimize your long-term health. We will refill your prescriptions at this visit.

Telehealth

We realize that sometimes you cannot get to our office. Some health concerns can be managed by telemedicine. If your preference is a video call and we can address your concern without an in person visit, we are happy to provide this option.
